Reflections from Pastor Mark
Mrs. Brenda Tyler, administrative assistant, recently asked me on behalf of a small interested group, whether it would be okay if they gathered on Monday mornings, 9:30-10:00 for prayer. They wanted to meet in order to pray for the renewal of St. Paul’s Church, for the upcoming Nights of Renewal (see the first page of the newsletter), and for those in need. I was more than happy to give my blessing and to participate as I am able!
One thing that must be true of St. Paul’s Church if we want to be effective in our mission is that we must be a praying church. Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus who make a difference. We will only be able to do that as we pray. The Bible says, “Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with thanksgiving” (Colossians 4:2).
I hope that there might be others who would be interested in gathering to pray, either on Monday mornings or another day and time. I also hope that those who can’t make it on Monday mornings will be able to pause whatever they’re doing and pray for the church and those in need. God longs to hear our prayers and respond to them according to his will, for his glory and for our good.
